About Us

Our commitment

The Newport Pagnell United Reformed Church is a part of a national church and shares in the church's commitment to:

'Live out in joyful and scarificial service to all in their various physical and spiritual needs that ministry of caring, forgiving and healing love which Jesus Christ brought to all whom he met.'
(Basis of Union)

Our history

The URC came into being in 1972 and is the union of the former Congregational and Presbyterian churches. In 1981 they were joined by the Churches of Christ and in 2000 by the Congregational Union of Scotland.

Founded in 1660 by Revd. John Gibbs, the church has served the town of Newport Pagnell throughout it's long history. The current church building dates from 1881. The congregation took a big step forward in faith when they demolished most of the former building that had stood since the early 19th century, believing that this was necessary to carry out their witness in a changing society.

The future

Our vision is to create a church that is welcoming to all, in service to the community, offering Christian worship and practical help. We have plans to redesign the inside of the church building to provide visible welcome as you enter, new facilities and a reordered worship area that will serve both church and community.

We would appreciate help from all the community in this exciting project. We welcome support in prayer and with the fund rasing activites. If you would like to help in any way, please contact us.
