Redevelopment plans
In late 2003, members approved a redevelopment
project for the Church building. A very challenging goal was set
of completing work in time for the Christmas 2004 services. This
decision was the culmination of eight years of hard work, with many
setbacks and disappointments on the way. However, we believe that
the work of our Church in the Newport Pagnell community will be
enhanced by the redevelopment project.
Our vision is to create a church building that is welcoming to all, in service
to the community, offering Christian worship and practical help. We have plans
to redesign the inside of the church building to provide visible welcome as you
enter, new facilities and a reordered worship area that will serve both church
and community.
What will the church offer?
- a welcome area that is warm and well lit
- facilities for disabled people
- a small cafe area open during the week
- a beautiful new chapel for daily prayers and private times
- a large carpeted sanctuary area that will be used for worship meetings,
concerts, plays and other community activites
- other smaller areas will be added to provide meeting rooms and office space.
The plans:
- reglazing the entrance doors
- enlarging the reception area
- installing a kitchen and toilet
- renewing the heating system
- replacing the pews with chairs
- resiting the organ into the worship area
- carrying out essential work on the walls
and windows
- making a small chapel upstairs
- putting in a lift to access the chapel area
- creating new meeting rooms
What will it cost?
The provisional estimate for the cost of the
project is UKP 210,000. This is a very large sum of money, but we
believe that the changes proposed for the church are necessary to
make the church an even better place to share in and praise God's
love. A safe and happy place to share with the community of Newport
Pagnell.
Income for the project will be generated from three mains sources:
congregational contributions, fund raising activities and from national URC
grants.
How can you help?
We would appreciate help from all the community
in this exciting project. We welcome support in prayer and with
the fund rasing activites. If you would like to help in any way,
please contact us.
